Flotation devices for boats can include many things, the most important being life jackets and life rings. Keep in mind that it is required by law that you have life jackets and life rings on your boat for everyone that is on board the boat. Laws vary by state, there are some that require that everyone that is on the boat be in a life jacket at all times, while other states just require that you have a life jacket available for everyone on that is on the boat. Keep in mind that regardless of the law children of all ages should be in a life jacket at all times. Life rings should be on your boat at all times, they can be used if someone happens to fall off, you simply have to throw a life ring to the person in the water and pull them back in with a pull. Other safety related flotation devices include water Proof strobes, key chains for those every important boat keys and life rings. It is very important that safety is the first thing on your mind when boating, weather it is for skiing, sport or fishing.

Other flotation devices include fenders and buoys. Fenders and buoys are used to protect the shell of your boat when you are docking it and or loading it onto and off of the boat carrier. You will want to ensure that your fenders and buoys are in good condition so that you can protect your boat from damage during this time. In addition to fenders and buoys you will want to ensure that your ropes used for tie downs are not going to sink either. It is important that you get ropes that will in fact float in the water, as you never know when one may be dropped or thrown over board. For the safety and protection of your boat and the riders upon the boat it is important that you have fenders and buoys on your boat at all times.

In addition there are several recreational flotation devices that you may want to use on your boat from time to time, they include floats, kneeboards and even skies. If you are using your boat for recreational purposes it is important that you get the proper floats, kneeboards, skies and even ski ropes on your boat. When on open water and being pulled by a boat that is traveling at fast speeds you will not want to be on a float that was made for a swimming pool. Even though these devices often cost a great deal more than those made for pools, you will want to ensure that you only use the ones that are in fact made for boating. Again this will help to keep everyone safe and from harm if you follow these simple guidelines.

Boating is meant to be fun for everyone involved, if you make certain that you have your flotation devices on your boat before entering the water you will not only protect yourself, but your boat as well.
