There are 3 types of holsters available, it depends on your need whether it be a retention, concealment or a sporting holster. Each was designed to secure the safety of the firearm and you. A retention holder was designed to incorporate some level of retention. This retention makes if difficult for the wearer to be disarmed in anyway. For example a retention holster may have straps to hold the firearm in place. They may have flaps also or a hood guard.

The concealment holster speaks for itself. They are designed to be worn under garments. They are usually lightweight and compact. These holsters are mostly intended for mid size firearms since these are the easiest to conceal. When wearing a concealment holster, the first thing considered is protecting the firearm from a person?s perspiration. It?s best to consider that when placing a concealment holster. The pocket concealment holsters are rougher on one side so it?s easier to pull the firearm out without slippage. Some examples of concealment holsters are ankle holsters, shoulder holsters, or even a fanny pack holster. It seems there are many kinds for concealment needs.

Last but not least is the Sporting holster. These holsters are designed for sports. Whether it is hunting or another competitive sport, Sporting holsters are made for quick draw and easy access to the firearm. They tend to maximize the benefits for any firearm user, providing quickness and retention. They are not designed for defensive purposes because the sporting holsters tend to be very large and slung over the body making it slow to retrieve. There are some facts you need to take into consideration when choosing a holster. First decide the need for the holster, whether it is concealment, retention or a sporting usage. Make sure you pick the size carefully, make sure your gun is satisfied with the holster itself. You must consider safety most of all when choosing a holster, you also want to be protected from the firearm itself. Look for comfort, durability and draw when purchasing a holster.

Adjustability is the most common characteristics of a good holster. It entails adjusting the comfort levels and retention for the firearm. Adjustability also ensures concealment and comfort and most holster wearer?s look for this when purchasing a holster. A moderate priced holster may be 20 to 50 dollars. The more expensive ones are in the 200- 300-dollar range. You can purchase holsters for more than one firearm, many just purchase holsters for the generic usage. Most holsters are designed for the specific person?s usage and unique need. With all the options available to today, this is the safest way to carry a gun.
